About Wind Tower
Wind Tower is Eldorado Canyon's most accessible moderate venue — a 300-foot south-west-facing Fountain arkose formation directly across South Boulder Creek from the Bastille, a two-minute walk over the bridge from the entrance. The south-west face holds the highest concentration of easy multi-pitch and single-pitch routes in the park, making it the go-to venue for guiding groups and beginners cutting their teeth on Eldo. Consensus classics: Wind Ridge (5.6, three pitches — one of Colorado's most popular 5.6 outings), Breezy (5.4), Calypso (5.6), Bulge (5.7), and Reggae (5.8). Many of the routes here were established by Layton Kor and Richard Rossiter during Eldo's development era. Rock quality is excellent on the lower and mid-height routes; loose blocks appear closer to the summit — helmets recommended. Shares Eldo's weather cell with Redgarden Wall (~200m away). South-west aspect and Fountain arkose drying character mean it climbs well within hours of a shower.
