USFS closes specific routes on Blob Rock for golden eagle and peregrine falcon nesting Feb 1 – Jul 31; the closure list changes annually. Check on-site signage or the Boulder Climbing Community's closures page (boulderclimbers.org) before travelling.

About Blob Rock

Blob Rock is Boulder Canyon's south-facing sport-and-trad concentration — a substantial granodiorite wall on the north side of the canyon at Mile 6.7, immediately across the creek from Cob Rock. Fifty-eight trad routes and 41 sport lines on high-friction Precambrian Boulder Creek Granodiorite. Consensus classics: Never a Dull Moment (5.10c) is the harder marquee; Left Wing (5.7), Direct Route (5.8+), Diagonal (5.9), and Northcutt Route (5.9) span the friendly grades. Notable overhung sport lines on the right side of the wall. South aspect and dense granite mean fast drying — climbable within hours of summer showers. for golden eagle and peregrine nesting — enforced by USFS, list changes yearly; check the Boulder Climbing Community's closures page before travelling. Shares the Boulder Canyon Middle weather cell with Cob Rock. Roadside; USFS land, no fee.
