About Clogwyn Bochlwyd (Bochlwyd Buttress)

A compact west-facing buttress standing beside the stream that cascades out of Cwm Bochlwyd — a landmark on the walk up to Bochlwyd tarn. Twenty minutes above Ogwen Cottage, catching afternoon and evening sun, with a great range of clean single-pitch routes from Severe up to E2 on rhyolite. Bochlwyd Eliminate (HVS 5a) is the standout line; Chimney Climb (HS 4b) is the popular introduction. Because it's small and slightly out of the way, it stays quieter than the roadside Ogwen crags even on busy weekends. A brilliant option for a half-day when you want mountain rock without a full mountaineering commitment.
