About Little River Canyon
Little River Canyon is a classic and historic Alabama hard-climbing venue — 311 routes on grand-quality Cumberland Plateau sandstone cliffs towering up to 600 feet above the narrow canyon floor of Little River Canyon National Preserve, near Fort Payne 14 miles via AL-35. Most routes are 5.11 and up, with the Concave famous for its collection of 5.13-5.14 classics (Word, Hooligans). Lizard Wall tends to stay dry when everything else is soaked, extending the season through wet weather. NPS land: park open sunrise to sunset (be in your car by sundown); bolting prohibited except by permit from the Superintendent. Cumberland sandstone wet-rock ethic still applies.
