About Red River Gorge — Roadside Crag

Access is permit-only and fragile: the crag closed in November 2019 due to climber misconduct and only reopened in September 2021. Every visitor must email GFNPreserve@gmail.com by the previous Monday with names, ages, state and date; suggested donation $1+ per person (below that PayPal fees cost the landowner money). No dogs, no alcohol/drugs, no loud music, pack out everything. Cumberland sandstone wet-rock ethic applies. October–April is prime; full winter sun.
