About Shieldaig Crag

Shieldaig Crag is a pleasant woodland schist cliff situated above the picturesque village of Shieldaig in Wester Ross. The rock character includes compact slabs, clean vertical walls, and positive holds with good natural gear. Facing south, the crag receives abundant sunshine and dries quickly, benefiting from sheltering birch trees and coastal air. Route choices span Severe to E-grades, with Shieldaig Groove providing a popular, high-quality trad outing. The approach takes ten minutes up a woodland path starting from the village parking areas. The proximity to Shieldaig makes this a convenient and relaxed regional crag.
