About Beer Walls

Beer Walls is the Adirondacks' most concentrated single-pitch trad cliff — a mile-long band of steep anorthosite walls tucked into dense woods just above Chapel Pond, ten minutes' walk from the roadside. Named for the shape of a bottle profile on the Upper Wall, the crag holds dozens of committing trad lines on immaculate stone. Mountain Project's top-ranked classics are Afternoon Delight (5.5), Sword (5.6), Rockaholic (5.8), Frosted Mug (5.9), and Turbocharge (5.10a). Critical drying note: Mountain Project's own area description warns that "the rock can remain damp even for a couple of days after it has rained" — the hillside tree canopy holds moisture and the walls dry noticeably slower than exposed Adirondack cliffs. Give it 48 hours after a wet spell. Shares a weather anchor with Chapel Pond Slab and Spider's Web (all within a kilometre on the same flank). Approach 15–20 minutes on climber trails from the Chapel Pond pull-off; DEC land, free. June through October is the practical season; blackflies vicious in early June. No active bird ban.
