About Caller Crag

Caller Crag is a secluded Fell Sandstone outcrop offering compact, clean buttresses set within a peaceful rural backdrop. The rock is generally excellent, featuring compact wall faces, crisp breaks, and positive holds that offer pleasant gear placements. With a south-facing aspect and a low-to-moderate elevation, the crag benefits from good sun exposure and dries rapidly following rainfall. The climbing style focuses on technical wall climbing and short, punchy traditional routes spanning Severe to mid-tier E-grades. Selected classics include Caller Wall (VS 4c) and The Arête (E1 5b). The approach requires a short ten-minute walk through farmland along established field boundaries. The paramount consideration at Caller Crag is respecting farm activities; climbers must ensure livestock is undisturbed, farm gates remain secured, and parking never impedes agricultural machinery.
