About New River Gorge — Beauty Mountain
Beauty Mountain is the New River Gorge's classic trad venue — 170+ climbs (plus 60+ boulder problems) on hard Nuttall sandstone rim at the head of Short Creek, four miles east of Fayetteville WV. Signature climbs like Super Crack (5.9+) and Burning Calves (5.10b) headline the trad menu; harder sport lines like Chunky Monkey (5.12b/c) and Super Mario (5.13a) add modern testpieces. Access via Beauty Mountain Road from the junction of Buckhorn and Beauty Mountain Rd — parking with pit toilet, then a good gravel road dropping into the gorge with cutoff paths to sectors. Same NPS rules as the rest of the NRG apply (no drones, no new bolts). Cumberland sandstone wet-rock ethic still applies.
