About Stone Fort (Little Rock City)
Stone Fort — universally known to climbers as "Little Rock City" (LRC) — is the Southeast's most storied bouldering venue and a Triple Crown of Bouldering stop, sitting on Mowbray Mountain adjacent to the Montlake Golf Course 30 minutes north of Chattanooga. Roughly 700 problems on Cumberland Plateau sandstone boulders scattered through open oak woodland, with iron rails, slopers, crimps and huecos. Rocks are well-drained on the golf-course rim and dry faster than deep-forest boulders; Cumberland sandstone wet-rock ethic still applies. Access: $10 weekday / $12 weekend day-use fee (crash pad rental $12); Leda area is separate at $14/vehicle. Sign in and pay at the Montlake Golf clubhouse — cash, card or contactless mobile pay accepted; waiver required (online in advance or on arrival). Punch cards and annual memberships available. No camping on site. October–April is prime, with November as the Triple Crown competition window.
