Facing north, the crag receives zero direct sun, keeping conditions cool during warm summer months but causing the wall to retain moisture and dry slowly after wet spells. The climbing is predominantly technical, sustained sport climbing in the 6c to 7b+ range, appealing to climbers who prefer wall climbing over steep roofs. Standout classics include the fine technical line of Waterloo. Access is simple, taking roughly seven minutes along the Monsal Trail from the Millers Dale station parking area. Persistent seepage in early season means dry summer spells offer the best window for climbing.
