About Slaggan (Atlantic Avenue)

Atlantic Avenue is a short sea cliff of hard Torridonian sandstone on the coast by the abandoned township of Slaggan, north-west of Laide, about 200m along the coast from Neptune's Wall. Short walls and a square-cut pillar are reached by scrambling round a bouldery geo. It faces west into the Minch, so it gets the afternoon and evening sun and the wind dries it quickly. From Laide, the Slaggan road is a rough track signed for four-wheel drive only; a high-clearance car can manage it with care.
