Langcliffe Scar is a massive, high-altitude limestone escarpment overlooking the Ribble Valley near Settle. The rock presents long, sweeping gray walls with deep vertical cracks, sharp pockets, and mountain-crag atmosphere. Facing west, the crag stays shaded in the morning and catches afternoon sun, with open elevation allowing high routes to dry rapidly in breezes. Climbing here is adventurous multi-pitch trad, mostly ranging between Severe and E5 difficulty. Classic testpieces like Langcliffe Corner offer fine traditional climbing in an airy environment. Access involves a 25-minute uphill walk along public footpaths from Langcliffe village. The high, exposed nature of the cliff means wind chill can be severe on cool days.
