  • Limestone should be fine if dry
Yew Cogar is a remote, dramatic limestone gorge cliff located deep in Littondale near Arncliffe. The rock consists of steep, highly featured gray limestone with sweeping overhangs, technical seams, and razor-sharp holds. Facing south across a steep ravine, the main faces catch good sun, but deep fissures hold persistent seepage that takes days to dry. The crag caters to experienced traditional climbers, offering bold, sustained routes mostly ranging from E1 to E6. Famous classics like Yew Cogar Wall offer breathtaking position and atmosphere. The approach is a strenuous 25-minute uphill walk from Arncliffe village across open hillside. Severe seepage after wet weather means dry mid-summer spells offer the best climbing conditions.
