Leather Tor is a sharp, narrow granite ridge tor situated adjacent to Sharpitor above Burrator Reservoir. The rock character consists of crystalline granite with razor-sharp edges, steep arêtes, and narrow horizontal cracks across airy summit towers. Facing all directions along its thin crest, aspect varies, and elevated ridge positioning ensures wind dries the rock very rapidly after rain. The climbing offers traditional ridge scrambles and technical face climbs from Moderate to lower E-grades, featuring the classic Leather Tor Ridge. The approach involves a fifteen-minute uphill walk from parking laybys on the B3212. Exposed ridge scrambling requires care during strong wind gusts.
