About Raven's Crag (Northumberland)

remote Fell Sandstone cliff set high in the Northumberland hills. The rock character is dark and atmospheric, featuring steep faces, deep fissures, and weathered horizontal breaks. Facing north at a high, exposed altitude, the cliff receives minimal sunlight and suffers from persistent seepage in damp weather, requiring extended dry spells to get into condition. The climbing style is adventurous and physical, catering mostly to experienced traditional climbers looking for isolated routes. Standout classic climbs are limited, with most lines offering mountain-style trad experiences. Reaching the crag requires a strenuous thirty-to-forty-minute moorland hike across rough, trackless terrain. The primary factor to consider is the severe mountain exposure; full hill-walking gear, careful weather planning, and route-finding skills are required for a safe visit."
