About First Coast Crags

First Coast Crags are peaceful Torridonian sandstone outcrops located on the coast near Laide in Wester Ross. The rock is high-friction red sandstone featuring clean slabs, crack systems, and positive handholds above the sea. Facing northwest, the cliff stays shaded until late afternoon, drying quickly in ocean winds. Route options focus on lower and middle-grade traditional climbs, with First Coast Crack standing out as an enjoyable classic. The approach takes ten minutes across flat coastal ground from the roadside parking laybys along the A832. Tidal levels do not restrict access to the main climbing platforms.
