About Second Coast Crags

Second Coast Crags are scenic sandstone sea buttresses positioned along the coast near Laide in Wester Ross. The Torridonian sandstone is exceptionally solid, offering clean vertical faces, sharp flakes, and reliable horizontal gear placements. Facing northwest over the sea, the crag catches late afternoon sun while sea breezes keep the rock dry and cool. The climbing features quality traditional routes alongside select sport lines, with Second Coast Wall offering classic climbing. The approach involves a fifteen-minute walk across coastal paths from roadside laybys near Laide. Non-tidal platforms make this a safe and pleasant coastal venue.
