About Froggatt Edge
Froggatt Edge faces west, so it gets the afternoon and evening sun and escapes the worst of the weather that hits the higher edges. That makes it one of the most reliable Peak gritstone crags in winter, climbable year-round when conditions are kind. The climbing faces stand above the tree line and dry well in the wind, though the section shaded by trees stays greener and the cave gives a little shelter in rain. The famous slabs, such as Great Slab and Three Pebble Slab, need cool, dry air for friction, so pick a crisp autumn or winter afternoon over a humid summer one. Curbar, the continuation of the edge just to the south, has its own page with a separate forecast.
